'Largest track meet in North America' coming to Brockville

It's the next step in Brockville's growing career as a sports venue, and the public school board is looking into how it can help.

Thousand Islands Secondary School will host the 2012 Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) Track and Field Championship June 7-9 of that year, and the event's convenor and host principal were on hand Wednesday to get support from the board.

"This is the largest high school track and field meet in North America," Ron Hungerford, a retired TISS phys ed teacher and track coach and the 2012 event's convenor, told the Upper Canada District School Board's regular meeting.
