Officials aim to make OFSAA gradeBy BEN LEESON, THE SUDBURY STARPosted 10 hours agoWhether in the classroom, on the track or in the field, student- athletes are used to being graded, rated and judged. And beginning today, with the city track and field championships, local officials will be graded, too. Those who achieve Grade 3, or provincial-level certification, will be qualified to work the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations meet, held here June 2-4. "For the first time in history, the officials who work the city meet will be evaluated by Athletics Ontario," said Gilbert Briscoe, program leader for athletics at Confederation Secondary and co-chair for the OFSAA meet. Local officials took part in a clinic last month to prepare for evaluations at the two-day city championships, which begin today at 9 a.m. at the Laurentian Community Track.
