Coughler chooses two events at OFSAABy JEFF GARD, NORTHUMBERLAND TODAYPosted 4 days agoSUDBURY -- Port Hope High School's Jeremy Coughler is one of the last athletes you would expect to scratch an event for the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations track and field championships. Coughler was the champion in all three of his events at the Kawartha, Central Ontario and East Regional meets leading up to the provincial meet. That kind of a schedule would have been too demanding at OFSAA, though, where heats were included for the 1,500m and steeplechase in order to qualify for the final of both events, unlike at the other three meets where athletes just run timed finals. On the opening day Thursday, preliminaries were scheduled for both Coughler's 1,500m and steeplechase races with finals slated for the Friday ahead of Saturday's 3,000m race.
