Korotki places fifth in midget javelin

SUDBURY -- There was a hurdle, figuratively, Tyler Korotki needed to overcome to pave his way to the provincial high school track and field championships.

Korotki went from having a chance to qualify for the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations meet in three individual events to having to regroup just for a shot to advance in one.

In fact, it was a hurdle -literally -that he didn't clear that almost cost the East Northumberland Secondary School athlete his eventual trip to OFSAA.

Korotki went on to place an impressive fifth in midget boys javelin at OFSAA track and field in Sudbury last week, but more on that later because to appreciate that result is to appreciate his journey to get there.
