Bedek lands bronze

Kelly Bedek's triple jump bronze medal was the top performance by St. Thomas-Elgin athletes late last week at the OFSAA track and field championships in Sudbury.

The St. Joseph's leaper, who reached OFSAA in all four of her high school years, turned in a jump of 11.49 metres on her fourth try to earn the medal.

Unfortunately for Bedek, she fouled on each of her first two tries in the long jump and then hit 5.18 metres and did not advance, finishing ninth in that event.
